Specialists in finance, tax, funds and legal to remain in high demand in 2012
Although the Luxembourg labour market remained relatively stable in 2011, overall salaries are not expected to increase in 2012 outside of key specialist areas, according to the Robert Walters Global Salary Survey, released today.
The Survey reveals that despite Luxembourg’s high concentration of banks and fund management companies, the uncertainty surrounding the Eurozone financial crisis did not negatively impact the local financial market in 2011. Salaries increased for professionals with specific skills and specialist jobs in 2011, a trend expected to continue in 2012. This predominantly applies to accountants, analysts, compliance, risk, audit, legal and treasury professionals who should expect to see moderate salary increases of around 5%.
Robert Van den Oord, Country Manager of Robert Walters - Luxembourg, comments: “Although many organisations remain cautious, we expect increases in hiring activity to continue in early 2012; however, recruitment processes are likely to remain drawn out. Although our Survey shows salaries will remained stagnant for most, some professions with specialist skill sets may see salary increases of more than 5% in 2012.”
“Competition for more generalist positions will be greater in 2012 and candidates will need to show exceptional drive, ambition and flexibility at interviews in order to secure a new position.”
